Which type of catering is right for your event?

From finger food to canapes, plated meals or buffets, DIY stations and bars – which one is best? Its normal to sometimes feel unsure by all the different terms. Let us break it down for you, so you can easily choose which catering type is right for your next event.

The first thing you need to understand is the purpose/type of event you are hosting.

Here are some questions which will help:

  • Does the event require guests to sit down and eat in a formal setting or rather socialise in a more casual way?
  • What time of the day is your event, how hungry are people likely to be?
  • Do you want the food to be kept hot on site or do you prefer a cold/warm setup?
  • Do you want people to be served or do you want them to help themselves?
  • Do you want cutlery (knives, forks, plates etc.) or rather an easy to eat arrangement?

Now once you have a better idea of the purpose of your event, you can choose a catering type.

Canapes / hors d’oeuvres – these are small BITE SIZED items which are usually served and styled in an elegant way. No cutlery needed here.  Perfect for a light snack at a reception event alongside a glass of champagne.

Finger Foods – these are bigger than canapes and usually more substantial, they are foods which require a few bites to finish. You do not necessarily require a knife and a fork or to sit down for these foods. Think along the lines of skewers, wraps and mini burgers.

Buffet (Swedish) – this is a style where food is setup in a large variety usually served with utensils and typically requires a plate, knife & fork to eat. Often it includes cold items in the form of starters, hot meals for the mains and dessert setup. Items like salads, rice, potatoes and a saucy meaty dish are some examples. The use of stainless-steel chaffing dishes is also common where food can be kept warm on site.

Plated dining – this is a sit-down option where guests are served individual courses of plated food. Plated dining usually includes a pre-selected starter, main and dessert option. This works well for weddings and formal events.

DIY stations / bars – this is an interactive way of eating where guests can usually construct their own meals or snacks. This works well for social events and can even be a great networking activity. Our waffle & pancake bar is a great example, where you can enjoy freshly made waffles with an assortment of toppings for you to get involved with and make it your way!

Procesul este gandit in asa fel incat bucataria sa acorde atentie maxima tuturor comenzilor.

  • pescatarian – consuma in plus și peste
